*(Print out a billion copies, cut, sew together and wipe. Whoop, there it is!)
I researched the French vocab and hope it translates well.
Inspired by Gargantua and Pantagruel by Francois Rabelais.

Whisky In My Hand (Devil Woman At My Side)
I'm a-stumblin' down one night
To Ozzie's Grill an' Bar,
Where th' liquor's dirt cheap
An' they're playin' blues guitar.
An' as I'm nursin' my drink,
Glass o' neat whisky,
That Devil Woman sat down by me
An' she started gettin' frisky.
Yeah, I had a whisky in my hand
An' a Devil Woman at my side.
An', oh Lord, you know later
She gone take me for a ride.
She got a smile bright as day,
Laugh clear as a bell,
An' oh, she'd got them curves
That'd drive a holy man to Hell.
An' I'm a weak, weak man, y'all.
I just couldn't resist
Those diamond eyes and blood-red lips,
Those lips that drank my kiss.
Oh, I had a whisky in my hand
An' that Devil Woman at my side.
Lord, Lord, you know later
She gone take me for a ride.
We stumbled back outta Ozzie's
In a little love huddle,
An' we were gettin' hot an' heavy
'Round those neon puddles.
We ducked into an alleyway,
An' that's when I saw the flash.
When I woke up, that bitch was gone
'Cuz she lit out with my cash!
Yeah, I had a whisky in my hand
An' that Devil Woman at my side.
An' what'd I tell you, child'run?
She done took me for a ride!

Look Up, Children
It's not that you
Don't understand
Or that you just
Don't care.
I know that you
See the wrongs
And are very
Well aware.
I often wonder
sometimes if
You even have
A clue,
But I think you're
Just afraid
And aren't sure
What to do.
I'm sure you know
All about
The power of
The Vote,
And just me
Even saying it
Must really get
Your goat (eye roll!)
But look up, at least,
My children,
Look often
On the land.
I know it can
Be hard
With that light on
In your hand.
Look up, look up
And see what
We all someday
May lose,
When melting feels
More surer
And Neptune ruins
All our shoes.

Holly
For those of you who've watched the American version of "The Office", there's an episode ("Employee Transfer") in Season Five where at the end Michael and Darryl return to Scranton after helping Michael's now ex-girlfriend and co-worker Holly schlep her stuff in a moving van back to Nashua, New Hampshire. Michael is distraught over losing her, and a consoling Darryl tries to teach him to sing the blues, but to no avail. I've often wondered what sort of blues song Michael might sing if he could find the right words to express his feelings. Maybe the one below, perhaps? (Well, no, not really.)
Dah dah duh dah duh
I once had me a woman
an' her name was Holly.
Made all the men say "Gosh!"
an' all the women say "Golly!"
But I ain't got her no more,
'cuz my baby's gone away.
An' I'm feelin' mighty mighty bad
an' that's why I gotta say:
Goddamn!
Holly! Ohhh, Holly!
Why you got to go away?
Oh, I need yo' sweet lovin', girl,
right here, right now, today!
(Oh, Daryl, you gotta pull this van ovah!
Pull it OVAH, my brutha!! I can't stand it no more!!
You gotta lemme out!! Lemme out!!
Lemme OUT!!!
Yeah! All right!)
Ole Mistah CEO
ain't like what he sees,
so he sent my baby far away
an' he had me beggin' "Please!"
GODDAMN!!
HOLLY!!! Ooooooh, Holly!!!
Why you got to go away?
Yes, I need yo' sweet lovin', girl,
right here, right now, today!
